Located in an enchanting and peaceful valley in Fundo do Barreiro, the property is just 5 km (3 miles) away from the parish of Várzea dos Cavaleiros where you have access to a little supermarket, cafes, bars, and a restaurant. Closer still, on the other side of the mountain and only 3 km(1.8 miles) from the property, is the smaller village of Figueira. This little village has breathtaking scenery, summer festivities, friendly folk, some cafes, and a minimarket. The vibrant and cultural town of Sertã is just 15 km (9 miles) away, where you can find all amenities. For hot summer days there are two river beaches within a 5 km (3 mile) radius, but you won't need to go far to cool down as the land itself borders a river that runs all summer long!

This 3.6-hectare (8.9 acres) smallholding has four buildings. The two main schist stone houses (in need of renovation) have together a 106 m² footprint and are registered for habitation. The remaining three buildings have been used in the past for storage / bread oven / barns etc.

The previous owners used to live mainly off the land. Making use of the stream that runs through the middle of the property, they built fantastic watering systems for the big meadows and impressive underground tunnels out of huge schist stones. The fertile soil and abundance of water make this place ideal for growing food or keeping a smallholding. There are various natural spring water sources coming from wells and a very good water mine. This plot is also ideal for some sort of glamping / retreat due to the large meadows and the many secluded spots that make it possible to put up yurts / tipis / bell tents / yoga platforms...

On the land there are many good fruit trees including fig, cherry, plum, loquat, orange, tangerine and a lot of grape vines. For anyone interested in making their own olive oil, there are also 91 olives trees. There is a large hillside woodland filled with 20 to 30-year-old pine trees, oaks, strawberry trees and more... This biodiversity makes it perfect to forage for mushrooms from November to April.

Access to the property is very good. Electricity is connected, it simply needs to be switched back on by the electricity company.
