VEGETABLE PLOTS: In seed beds seed lettuce for winter, cabbage (repolho, head forming), cauliflower, turnip for eating leaves (couve-nabo), brussel sprouts, cabbage (tronchuda).
On permanent site seed carrots, chicory, turnip, radish, beetroot etc. Can plant more peppers and tomatoes. Continue to seed green beans. Hoe and weed strawberry patches. Harvest onions, garlic. Can pick lettuce and celery, first redcurrants and blueberries.
FIELDS: Harvest wheat, rye and oats. Harvest potatoes planted in February. Hoe and weed maize and potatoes. Can plant more potatoes. Finish hay making.
VINEYARDS/ TREES/ PRUNING/ GRAFTING: Watch out for mildew and fungus on grape vines (spray if necessary). Continue to pick cherries and first loquat and peaches. Apples ripen June to November. Harvest cork from cork oak trees.
REMARKS: Take honey from bee hives. Best time to buy young chickens to start laying eggs 5 to 6 months later. Make sure animals have plenty of water over summer!!
